Lucia Nasuti Smeal

Lucia Nasuti Smeal joined the firm in 2006 as a partner after 20 years of corporate practice with Tax Analysts, a noted Washington Freedom of Information group and tax policy think-tank. Her primary areas of practice include domestic relations, wills and trusts, business formation and disputes, and traffic offenses.

Ms. Smeal, a native Atlantan, received her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Georgia and her J.D. from the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University, in Washington, D.C. Smeal worked as a legislative analyst for Congressional Research Service at the Library of Congress for 5 years, then became an associate with the Washington, D.C. law firm of Silverstein & Mullins.

Ms. Smeal left the firm to join Tax Analysts, where she was a member of the Capitol Periodical Press Corps, editor of Tax Notes Today, and later served as Chief Operating Officer and corporate counsel.

Ms. Smeal teaches in the graduate tax program at Georgia State University and has taught Business Law at Oglethorpe University as a team teacher. She is a member of the Georgia Bar Association and the North Fulton Bar Association. Her community positions include Public Relations Chairman for the Milton Takedown Club and Speaker on Teen Safety Laws.
